A couple of happier memories of Henry, my grandson …

When he was about seven years old, Henry and his mum were staying with us and I showed him some ‘magic’ tricks.  He was fascinated and asked me to repeat them.  He was hell bent on trying to work out how I did them so I showed him, one by one, how they worked and he practiced until he got them right.

He was so proud of himself.  He was such a ‘determined’ little boy and practiced and practiced so hard.  When he left to return home, I gave him all the components of the magic tricks.  He was so happy.

Another time, I made Henry and his brother each a small wooden boat and we went to a nearby  park to float them.

With pieces of string tied to each of the prows of their boats, Ben and Henry placed them in the edge of the water and dragged them along to see whose boat could sail the fastest.

Both boats immediately sank but this didn’t deter Henry.  He just laughed and carried on pulling it along, even though it was now more like a 'submarine' than a boat !

He loved his boat and proudly took it home with him.

Precious memories now….
